Cancelled flights today

Each row is a service the airline dropped from today’s schedule on the routes we track. We take cancellations from our flight-data provider and refresh the page through the day, so an announcement made at the gate shows up here shortly after the airline files it. Every row carries a link to that flight’s own page and to a pre-filled claim.

A cancellation is not the same as a long delay, and it is worth more of your attention. The airline owes you a way to your destination or your money back, and it owes a fixed payment on top when it gave you less than two weeks’ notice. Most flight cancellations today are worth something to the people on board.

Notice is the hinge, and fourteen days is where it turns. Warn you earlier and the airline owes you a seat or a refund but no money. Warn you later and the fixed sum applies: €250 up to 1,500 km, €400 to 3,500 km, €600 beyond, or £220, £350 and £520 for a flight leaving the UK.

The airline can escape the payment in one way only. It must show the cause sat outside its control and that no reasonable step would have saved the flight. A storm or closed airspace clears that bar. A crew shortage or an unserviceable aircraft does not, however the letter is worded.

Say which option you want before the desk decides for you: the next flight, a later date, or a refund. Get the reason for the cancellation in writing while someone is still there to give it. Keep every message the airline sends, because the timestamp is the proof of notice.
