Corendon Airlines flight delay and cancellation: your rights
Corendon is not one airline but a group flying under more than one operating licence — a Turkish one, a Dutch one and a Maltese one. Which entity actually operated your flight decides how far your rights reach, and the booking rarely makes it obvious.
- Corendon Dutch Airlines and Corendon Airlines Europe hold EU licences, so EU261 covers their flights in both directions, including arrivals into the EU from Turkey or Egypt.
- Corendon Airlines, the Turkish entity, is a non-EU carrier, so EU261 reaches only its departures from an EU or EEA airport.
This is the most valuable thing to establish before you claim. The same route, on the same brand, in the same week, can be covered or not depending on which certificate the aircraft flew under.
What a delayed flight pays
| Flight distance | Example | Per passenger |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km | Dublin → London | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km | London → Athens | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km | London → New York | €600 |
Amounts are per passenger, not per booking. A delay of 3–4 hours over 3,500 km may be reduced by half under Article 7(2).
Finding out which one flew you
The flight number prefix is the clue. Look at your booking confirmation and the boarding pass rather than the marketing name, and if the documents are ambiguous, ask the airline in writing which entity operated the sector. You are entitled to that answer, and it is the fact your claim turns on.
What a Corendon claim is worth
Where EU261 applies, the distance sets the amount:
- €250 for routes up to 1,500 km
- €400 for routes from 1,500 to 3,500 km, which covers most of the Turkey and Egypt holiday flying
- €600 beyond 3,500 km
Charter and package passengers are covered exactly as scheduled passengers are. If your flight came as part of a package holiday, you may also have a claim against the organiser for the holiday itself — a separate entitlement that does not replace this one.
Care, whatever the licence
Whichever entity flew you, the duty of care during a long wait is owed once EU261 applies: food and drink in proportion to the delay, two calls or emails, and a hotel with transport if you are held overnight. It survives even when the cause is genuinely extraordinary and no compensation is due.
How to claim Corendon flight delay compensation
Start with the flight itself. Our free flight check reads the recorded departure and arrival times for your Corendon flight and tells you which band it falls in, in about two minutes.
A Corendon compensation claim turns on the arrival time and on the reason the airline gives, so read both before you write. The flight delay compensation guide sets out the bands, and the cancellation compensation guide covers Corendon cancellation compensation for a flight that never operated. If the airline refuses, the case law summary sets out what the courts have accepted as an excuse and what they have thrown out.
