# Condor flight delay and cancellation compensation

Condor is a German leisure and long-haul airline and an EU carrier, so EU261 covers its flights in both directions — up to EUR 600 per passenger.

**Condor flight delay** and cancellation claims **pay** €250 to €600 per passenger under EU261, or £220 to £520 under UK261. You qualify if you land three or more hours late at your final destination, if Condor cancels with under 14 days' notice, or if it denies you boarding. Most of Condor's long-haul network sits in the €600 band.

## Does EU261 cover a Condor flight delay on long-haul routes?

Condor is a German leisure airline based at **Frankfurt**, flying a short- and medium-haul holiday network alongside a long-haul programme to the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, Africa and North America. It holds a German operating licence, so it is an **EU carrier** and EU261 covers its flights in both directions:

- **Departures from any EU/EEA airport**, whoever operates them
- **Arrivals into the EU/EEA from a third country**, because Condor is an EU airline — its long-haul inbound sectors from the Americas, Africa and the Indian Ocean qualify
- **Departures from the UK, and arrivals into the UK** on Condor fall under UK261

The trigger is a **three-hour-plus arrival delay** at your final destination, a **cancellation with less than 14 days' notice**, or **denied boarding** on an oversold flight. The amount depends on distance, not fare.

## How much you could receive

- **EUR 250** — routes of 1,500 km or less, such as Frankfurt to Palma
- **EUR 400** — intra-EU routes over 1,500 km and other routes of 1,500 to 3,500 km, covering the Canaries, Egypt and much of the Mediterranean leisure map
- **EUR 600** — routes over 3,500 km, which covers most of Condor's long-haul network

Under **Article 7(2)** the airline may pay half the EUR 600 where a re-routed long-haul flight lands less than four hours late, so the exact arrival time is worth confirming. UK261 pays **GBP 220 / GBP 350 / GBP 520**. Cabin and fare are irrelevant, and every passenger on the booking claims separately.

## When Condor doesn't have to pay

Compensation falls away only where Condor proves **extraordinary circumstances** that could not have been avoided even with all reasonable measures — severe weather, ATC restrictions, airport closures, security alerts, bird strikes or an onboard medical emergency.

The **burden of proof rests entirely with the airline**; a one-line rejection citing "weather" or "operational reasons" is an assertion, not a completed defence. Industrial action by Condor's **own crew is generally not extraordinary**, whereas a strike by air-traffic controllers or third-party handlers usually is. Routine technical faults discovered during normal maintenance normally remain the airline's responsibility.

## How to claim from Condor

Keep the booking reference, boarding passes for every sector, the disruption notice, and any receipts, and record the real arrival time at your final destination. Condor wants claims through its own channels and may ask for verification first.

If a claim stalls or is refused without a substantiated reason, it can be taken to Germany's conciliation body for public transport (**söp**), to the enforcement body of the departure state, or to court within the local time limit.

## What it costs

The eligibility check is free. If we recover your compensation we charge a **fixed EUR 39 success fee** — the same whether you're owed EUR 250 or EUR 600 — and the airline's payment goes to you. No win, no fee.

## How to claim Condor compensation

Start with the flight itself. Our [free flight check](/claim) reads the recorded times for your Condor flight and tells you which band it falls in, in about two minutes.

For the law behind the figure, the [flight delay compensation guide](/flight-delay-compensation) covers arrival delays and the [cancellation compensation guide](/flight-cancellation-compensation) covers a flight that never operated. If Condor has already refused you, the [case law summary](/passenger-rights/case-law) sets out what the courts have said about the usual excuses.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a Condor long-haul flight into Frankfurt from the Caribbean covered by EU261?

Yes. Arrivals into the EU/EEA from a third country are covered when the operating airline holds an EU licence, and Condor's is German. So a delayed inbound flight from the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean or the Americas carries the same entitlement as a departure from Frankfurt, up to EUR 600 for the distance involved.

### My Condor long-haul flight landed three and a half hours late. Why was I offered half?

Article 7(2) lets an airline reduce compensation by 50 per cent on routes over 3,500 km when the arrival delay is under four hours, which brings EUR 600 down to EUR 300. The reduction turns on the moment the aircraft doors open, so if the true delay was four hours or more the full amount is due and the arrival record is worth checking.

### Does a Condor package holiday flight qualify for compensation?

Yes. Compensation attaches to the flight regardless of whether it was sold on its own or as part of a package, and it is set by distance rather than by what the holiday cost. Every passenger named on the booking claims separately.
