# Air Nostrum flight delay and cancellation compensation

Air Nostrum flies Iberia's regional network as Iberia Regional, on IB flight numbers and its own Spanish licence. EU261 covers it in both directions.

## Air Nostrum flight delay and cancellation: your rights

Your ticket says Iberia Regional. The flight number starts IB. The aircraft is a small regional jet or turboprop, and the airline that owns it is Air Nostrum.

Air Nostrum is a Spanish company flying Iberia's regional routes under a franchise. Spain is an EU state, so it holds an EU operating licence.

## What the franchise changes, and what it does not

It does not change your rights at all. EU261 covers every departure from an EU or EEA airport, whoever operates it. An EU licence adds the return leg from outside Europe.

The sums are **€250** up to 1,500 km, **€400** between 1,500 and 3,500 km, and **€600** beyond. Most of this network is short, so the first band covers a lot of it.

A short route pays the same €250 whether the fare was €40 or €400. On regional flying the compensation is often larger than the ticket.

## My ticket says Iberia Regional — who owes me?

Iberia. It sold the ticket and it answers the claim.

Write to Iberia with the IB flight number, the date and the time you landed. If the reply says another company operated the flight, that is a fact about the franchise and not a reason to refuse you.

## How to claim Air Nostrum flight delay compensation

Start with the flight itself. Our [free flight check](/claim) reads the recorded departure and arrival times and tells you which band your Air Nostrum flight falls in.

A Air Nostrum compensation claim turns on two things: the arrival time, and the reason the airline gives.

For a late arrival, read the [flight delay compensation guide](/flight-delay-compensation). For a flight that never flew, read the [cancellation compensation guide](/flight-cancellation-compensation). It covers Air Nostrum cancellation compensation too. Has the airline said no? The [case law summary](/passenger-rights/case-law) sets out what the courts make of the usual excuses.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is an Iberia Regional flight covered by EU261?

Yes. Air Nostrum holds a Spanish operating licence, which makes it an EU carrier. EU261 covers its departures from the EU and its arrivals into the EU from outside.

### The delay was on a short island route. Is it worth claiming?

Yes, if you landed three or more hours late. The figure is €250 on routes up to 1,500 km, which is more than many regional fares cost.

### Iberia says Air Nostrum operated the flight. Do I write to Air Nostrum?

Write to Iberia first. It is the ticket seller and handles franchise claims. Keep the IB flight number in every message so the file matches the flight.
